"Who took my baseball cards?"

    Hello! I’m rick. I like to play soccer, and I like to play basketball. But my favorite sport is baseball. I love to play baseball! I’m the fastest runner on my team. Baseball is never boring to me. But it is really exciting when you win. Last year, my team won a trophy!

     When I’m not playing baseball, I like to collect baseball cards. It’s a fun and easy hobby. And it is interesting, too. Now I know everything about the players on all the different teams. I think I have the biggest collection in my town. That is because I spend all my money on baseball cards!

     One day I was putting my newest baseball card in my book. I saw that some of my old cards weren’t there. How strange! What happened? I looked every day for my baseball cards, but I didn’t find them. Was this some joke? I did not think it was funny. I felt awful.

     Then, last night, I saw my dog socks in the yard. I ran out to look. “what’s wrong, socks?” I asked. Then I saw them. My baseball cards were behind the big rock! Socks took them! I was happy to see my wonderful cards, so I didn’t get mad at socks. I think he likes collecting baseball cards, too!

"The two brothers"

     In a town in the mountains there is a little family. The father is a doctor. The mother is a doctor. The two brother in the family say,”we don’t want to be doctor.” “ what do you want to be?” asks the father. The brothers say, “we always go for walks in the mountains. How about shepherds?”.

     The next day the two brothers go up the mountain. They find a  shepherd with his sheep and he teaches them. “we can be shepherds!” they say. After they lunch, they go to sleep under a tree.

     A horn pokes big brother in the arm. He jumps up says to little brothers,”gets up! Let’s get out of here!” they do not look behind and see the sheep with horns. They start to run down the mountain. Horns poke into them from behind. They cry, ”help!” they get to a river and swim.

     When they get home their mother asks, “do you like being shepherds?” big brother says, “NO! we can fight fires,fix teeth, help sick people, and teach sporth.” “but we never want to be shepherds,” says little brother.

"The rabbit and the turtle"

     That rabbit! What a character! He was pround of his long ears He was pround of his long feet. And he was very pround of how fast he ran. “no one can catch me,” rabbit said. “I’m wonderful. Wonderful!”. “awful!” said spider. “but what can we do?” “I know what to do,” said turtle.

     “would you like to have a race?” turtle asked rabbit. “let’s race to big rock.” “do I want to race? With you?” rabbit laughed. “you are a dull, dull turtle. A SLOW turtle.” Turtle smiled. “I can win,” he said. Rabbit stopped laughing. “let’s go!” he said. They rain

     The rabbit was fast. He left turtle behind in no time. Then he saw a restaurant. “I’m hungry,” he thought. “and that turtle is slow. I’ve got time for dinner.” Rabbit ate a delicious meal of fruit, cheese and cake. turtle went past the restaurant. He didn’t stop. But rabbit caught up with him later and left him behind again.

     Rabbit felt a little tired then. He found a log. He decided to crawl in. he slept. Turtle  did not stop. He went past the log. He was slow, but he ran and he ran. Suddenly rabbit opened his eyes. He jumped up. He ran faster than before. But he was too late. That turtle was slow. But he did not stop. He did not give up. And he won!

"The king’s new clothes"

     Once there was a king who loved new clothes. One day, two men came to the castle and told the king, “for two bags of gold, we are going to make you some beautiful, magic clothes. Only you are going to be able to see them.” The king was very excited. The men said, “your clothes are going to be finished in two weeks, on july 14.” The king went to his calendar and marked july fourteenth to be’ a holiday. “everyone is going to celebrate my new clothes with me,” he said.

     On july sixth, the king went to see the two men. They worked fast and hard, but the king didn’t see any clothes. The men said, “remember, these are magic clothes.”

     On july fourteenth, the king’s magic clothes were ready. After the two men helped the king get dressed, the king rode into town. He wanted everyone to see his magic clothes. The people were surprised. There were no clothes to see! A small boy said, “the king isn’t wearing any clothes!” the king looked at himself and quickly rode back to his castle. He looked for the two men, but they and the gold were gone. “I was very foolish,” said the king.

"The ant and the grasshopper "

The ant and the grasshopper 

     Ant lives next to grasshopper. Ant says,”I like to work and go to school every day,” every day ant gets up at 7:15. She finds food before school. She reads and write. After school she plays soccer. Ant works and works. Grasshopper doesn’t like to work.

     One day grasshopper gets up at 10:00. She says,”I like to hop and sing every day.” She gets dressed and eats breakfast. After breakfast she hops and sing and watches TV. At 11:45 she goes back to sleep.   

     Ant walks home at lunch. She sees grasshopper and says, “hello!”. Grasshopper opens one eye and asks, “what time is it?”. Ant says,”it’s 12:45.” Grasshopper sits up and smiles. “is it time for lunch?’ she asks. “yes,” says ant,” but you don’t have any food.”

     Grasshopper looks at ant’s food. “can I eat some of your food?” she asks  Ant says,”I work every day. You hop and sing and play.” Grasshopper says,” after lunch, I can work.” Ant gives gasshopper some food. After lunch grasshopper hops and sings and works!

   

   

"Roberto’s dinner"

     One lettuce. Roberto was writing the shopping list. He put it on the fridge. He dropped down onto his chair. “I miss father,” he said. Roberto’s father opened a new restaurant in the city last week. He always worked in the day. Now he worked some nights,too. Roberto hoped to see the new restaurant soon.

     “I know,” roberto’s mother said. “your father is working hard. I miss him, too. But you and I can have some fun. Let’s go out to dinner. Then we can go to the cinema.”. “I’m not hungry,” said Roberto. “come on,” his mother said.”you like to eat at restaurant.” So they went.

     “I’d like onion soup,lemon chicken, milk and a fruit salad, please,” roberto’s mother told the waiter. Robeto looked at the menu. “I’m not very hungry,” he said. “he misses his father,”roberto’s mother said. “I can order for Roberto. He would like a hamburger,chips,green beans and a cola. And chocolate cake!”

     The waiter served the food. Roberto’s mother ate. Roberto did not. “don’t you like our food?” the waiter asked. “let me get the owner.” Roberto did not see his mother smile. Then a man asked,” you don’t like our cooking?” Roberto looked up. It was father! “welcome to my new restaurant,Roberto,” father said. “I missed you so much!”

"Queen of the calendar"

     Lina hung up the watering can. She put the shovel away. She was helping her father clean up the yard. “I know what I am going to be one     day,” she told him. “what are you going to be?” father asked. “I am going to be Queen of the calendar,” lina said.

     “what does a calendar queen do?” father asked. He gave her a rake. “she names new holidays to celebrate,” lina side. “she names special holidays for every week and every month of the year.”
     father smiled. “what are some of them going to be?” he asked. He started to rake. “april tenth is going to be drop the broom day,” lina said.  “no work on that date!”

     “august first is going to be lucky messy day,” lina said. “no cleaning up! Every Friday can be fireworks day. And every Monday is going to be joke day. We can tell jokes all day. There is not going to be any time for school on Mondays!”. “I like this!” father said. “October sixteenth can be hug atr e day. And july thirtieth can be nice to horses day.”

     Father stopped raking. “what is the date today?” he asked. “june twenty-first,” lina said. “the first day of summer,” father said. “ let’s celebrate!”. “how?” asked lina. “ let’s make it chocolate ice cream day,” said father. “ I like that idea!” said lina so they did.

"Malcolm’s Saturday morning"

      Malcolm usually sleeps late at the weekend, but today he got up early. “good morning,” said mother. “I’m going shopping now. Father is in the study working on the computer. After breakfast, please wash the dishes and take out the rubbish. After I come back we’ll go to the cinema.”

     Malcolm said goodbye to his mother. Then he went back to the kitchen. Surprise! His breakfast was on the table and egg sandwich. What a nice surprise, but what a mess! “hello,” someone said. Malcolm had never seen him before. “who are you?” Malcolm asked. “my name is red,” he said. “I made you a sandwich. Enjoy it!”. “thank you,” said Malcolm.

     After Malcolm ate the sandwich he said, “delicious sandwich! Thanks. Now I’m going to wash the dishes and take out the rubbish.” “that’s no fun,” red said. “let’s sing and dance!” so they sang and danced. It was fun, but what a mess red made!

     Then red said,”your mother i8s home! Run and meet her. Then come back.” When Malcolm and mother got back to the kitchen, red was not there. But the kitchen was clean,clean,clean. Mother said,”this looks so good! You worked hard.” “oh, no,” said Malcolm. “it was fun!”

"East to west"

     I love new York city. I like the east. We always lived there. Then my father got a new job. It was in Arizona, where the grand canyon is. Out west!. Hollywood, in california, is all right. You can see beautiful movie stars there. Washington, D.C. is all right. It’s the capital of the united states. You can see famous people like the president there. But what can you see in  to Arizona? Cows! Horses! I didn’t want to move!

     But my father said we had to go. He got our tickets. Then we packed our suitcases. In a short time, we were in your seats on the plane, flying west. It was a long trip, miles and miles my father slept I his seat, next to mine. Mine was next to the window. I saw rivers and mountains and forest with about a million trees. I wiggled my toes In my toes in my new cowboy boots. I wanted to have friends. I wanted to be popular in my new school.

    The houses on our new street were all brown. “that one is ours,” my father said. The yard was wide and sandy. There was a big cactus. I didn’t see any cows. I did see a girl. “hello,” she said. “I’m jan. do you want to go have some fun?” “I can’t ride a horse,” I told her. She just looked at me. “I want to go to the mall. We don’t ride horses there!” she said. “and why are you wearing cowboy clothes? Most people don’t wear them here.” I like her!

     Do you know what I saw at the mall? A cow! But it wasn’t real. It was in the window of the ice cream store. We had one just like it in new York. Do you what?  Think I’m going to like arizona

   

"City mouse and country mouse"

     One day city mouse takes a bus to the country to see his cousin, country mouse. He sees cows and horses in the fields. He sees ponds and fences and birds. The bus stops at a farm. Country mouse is waiting. “hello, causin! I’m happy to see you,” says country mouse.

     But soon city mause is not happy. “I’m hungry. There is no food! And it’s cold here in the barn,” he says. “let’s go to the city. You can live in my apartment. There’s food and it’s warm.”. country mouse touches his cold nose. “yes, let’s go!” he says.

     The two cousins take the bus to the city. They see a restaurant, a skating rink, and a museum. City mousesays, “here’s our stop!” they get off the bus and go to into the apartment. There are milk and cheese on a big table. City mouse and country mouse are happp.

     But before they can eat, a big cat comes in. the cat wants to eat them! They have to hide behind the refrigerator. Country mouse says,” now I’m hungry, and a cat wants to eat me ! I’m going back to the country!”.

     

"Cinderella"

Cinderella lived with a very mean family. She had to do all the chores. She made the beds. She did the dishes. She cooked the meals. She even took out the garbage. One day the family went to a party at the prince’s palace. Cinderella was sad. She said, “I want to go too!”. Sunddenly a fairy princess came and said, “I can help you.” She gave Cinderella a party dress and some glass slippers. Then she said, “come home early. My magic ends at midnight. I’m just learning this job.” Cinderella went to the party and danced with the prince. She forgot about time. Then she saw a clock. It was almost midnight! Cinderella ran home, but she lost one of her glass slippers on the way. The prince wanted to marry Cinderella, but all he had was the glass slipper. Many women triend on the slipper, but it didn’t fit. The prince thought, “everyone has such big feet!” then one day, Cinderella triend it on, and it fit! The prince and Cinderella got married, and they lived happily ever after.
